biography
early life , education

binod bihari vema born in baur, darbhanga district, bihar on 3 december 1937 rameshwar lal das , yogmaya devi. father freedom fighter, prominent gandhian , tireless worker upliftment of poor, , inculcated these values in children well.


verma attended primary school in village of rasiyari village. travelled father , uncle trying spread gandhi s message of achieving freedom through self-reliance , non-violence in remote tribal areas of chaibasa, ranchi, , singhbhum in south bihar. developed empathy tribal children , insight diversities of human nature.


verma s education continued @ district school in chaibasa, missionary school of st. john s @ ranchi, , @ langat singh college in muzaffarpur. subsequently, joined darbhanga medical college , graduated in 1962.


army life

in 1962, during sino-indian war, verma joined indian army. commissioned army medical corps in 1963 , served in areas such himachal pradesh, sikkim, punjab, assam , goa.


verma fought in indo-pakistani war of 1965 , in 1984 took permanent commission in army. involved in operation bluestar in 1984 , ipkf operations in sri lanka in 1988–1990, commanded 404 field ambulance @ vavuniya. took retirement active army service in 1990, partly disillusioned war in sri lanka.


later life , death

subsequent retirement, verma settled in bhubaneswar, orissa started clinical practice. having long been involved in research , writing, in period regularly published novels, biographies, , contributions maithili magazines. taught biochemistry in dental college in bhubaneswar.


in 1999 diagnosed suffering prostate cancer. died on 9 november 2003 @ bangalore.
