the main works included realisation of large park extending property, , expansion of western wing, according late renaissance canons. in 1660s villa hosted cardinal gregorio barbarigo, during of pastoral visits.


in 18th century ordered construction of big barchessa, outhouse designed farming activities linked villa.


despite fall of republic of venice in 1797 , napoleon s italian campaigns, family contarini kept property of vigna contarena. however, in 1820-1821 villa sold prussian count of haugwitz , after death property passed several families. since 1992 vigna contarena has been property of caporali family.
