the spring extractor located inside bolt head, ejector fixed , riveted inside of receiver housing. fnc uses 2-position gas valve, hammer-type firing mechanism , trigger fire selector switch simultaneously manual safety, securing weapon accidental firing. selector lever located on left side of receiver , has 4 settings: s - weapon safe, 1 - single fire mode, 3 - 3-round burst, - continuous (automatic) fire.
the fnc s barrel features flash suppressor used launch nato standard 22mm rifle grenades (only standard rifle model has capability). gas block contains gas valve setting used isolate gas system, providing increased volume of propellant required fire rifle grenade. sheet-metal gas valve switch when pulled upright, acts v-notch sight used aiming rifle grenades. piston head , extension, gas port block, barrel bore , chamber, hard-chrome plated minimize effects of propellant fouling.
the rifle feeds 30-round steel magazines interchangeable magazines american m16 rifle (stanag 4179 compliant). after last round fired, bolt remain closed there no provision automatic bolt hold open. however, bolt handle can manually worked hold bolt back. fnc magazines function in ar-15/m16-type rifles follower not hold bolt open on last round unless have been replaced m16-type follower.
the plastic-coated, lightweight alloy skeleton stock folds right side of receiver. fixed synthetic (polyamide) buttstock available.
the upper receiver made stamped steel, lower receiver, along magazine housing, made aluminum alloy.
