extracurricular activities

the hawks compete in sunflower league , classified 6a school, largest classification in kansas according kansas state high school activities association. throughout history, olathe east has won 50 state championships in various sports. many graduates have gone on participate in division i, division ii, , division iii athletics.

one of popular athletic programs offered @ olathe east soccer. throughout school s history, boys team has won 3 state championships, occurring in 1996, 2005 , 2014, , girls team has won 4 state championships, occurring in 2001, 2004, 2008, , 2012.


boys swimming & diving

the olathe east boys swimming & diving team won state championship in 2009 after placing second shawnee mission east high school in 2007 , 2008. in 2008, there 1 point difference between shawnee mission east , olathe east.


softball

the hawks have consistently been 1 of best softball teams in kansas, winning state championships in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012, , 2013. in 2007, hawks set new kshsaa record consecutive state championships won in softball.

the olathe east track , field team has won 10 state championships since 2007 , 11 overall, including 5 boys in 1998, 2007, 2010, 2014, , 2015 , 5 consecutive state championships girls 2008-2012.

the olathe east orchestra has performed @ kmea music festival several times , performed @ carnegie hall in january 2007, , has received 3 straight ratings second consecutive year. olathe east band has received many accomplishments such receiving ratings @ area music festival in march 2007. band performed @ avery fisher hall in new york city in spring 2009. in fall of 2010, band had first undefeated season in school s history. band took first place in 6a division @ ku s heart of american marching festival, , first in division @ missouri western s marching competition. oe choir has sent several students northeast kmea all-district music festival along other performing groups @ east. olathe east s drama department has been successful, winning various awards , has performed @ both international thespian conference , kansas state thespian conference.
