u l washington, former major league baseball player kansas city royals, montreal expos, , pittsburgh pirates, alumnus of stringtown high school. cliffton dickson, alumnus of stringtown high school, had true passion game of baseball, handing down knowledge of game next generation , playing in softball tournaments. cliffton dickson died in 1984 during open heart surgery. honoring 2 men s dedication community of stringtown , love of game, stringtown renamed ball field after ul washington , cliffton dickson in 1984. commemorative plaque located behind home plate in front of press box.
