southern section

business 85 begins exit 87 of i-85, south of lexington. travels along us 52 north splits @ exit 87. becoming semi-limited expressway, travels through lexington short concurrency us 64. once past lexington, road becomes more typical expressway, @ grade intersections controlled interchanges throughout rest of southern section. business 85 goes @ northeast direction, parallel i-85 further south, goes through thomasville , high point. makes unique intersection i-74/us 311 having full interchange, at-grade intersections @ ramps. after 30 miles (48 km), business 85 merges i-85 in greensboro.
