the first settlers of bdadoun came north lebanon maronite families peasants. found uninviting land made of rocky landscape strewn oaks, wild figs, vines , olive trees. local dwellers built stone terraces planted fruit trees such apricot, almonds, pear, apple, pomegranates, , plum trees. latter, bdadoun known plums (turkish: erik, or can erik. arabic: al-barqūq, البَرقوق ) , holds annual harvest festival in may. plum believed close relative of greengage.

this not mistaken chinese plum or loquat grown in bdadoun , called akkidinya or akkadeneh. (arabic: اككي دني. turkish: yeni dunya, yedi dunya)
