at e3 2008, @ microsoft s show, microsoft s aaron greenberg , marc whitten announced new xbox 360 interface called new xbox experience (nxe). update intended ease console menu navigation. gui uses twist ui, used in windows media center , zune. new xbox guide retains dashboard functionality (including marketplace browser , disk ejection) , original blade interface (although color scheme has been changed match of nxe dashboard).


the nxe provides many new features. users can install games disc hard drive play them reduced load time , less disc drive noise, each game s disc must remain in system in order run. new, built-in community system allows creation of digitized avatars can used multiple activities, such sharing photos or playing arcade games 1 vs. 100. update released on november 19, 2008.


while previous system updates have been stored on internal memory, nxe update first require storage device—at least 128 mb memory card or hard drive.


microsoft released further update xbox 360 dashboard starting on december 6, 2011. included new user interface utilizes microsoft s metro design language, , added new features such cloud storage game saves , profiles, live television, bing voice search, access youtube videos , better support kinect voice commands.
