the nave

the walls of nave follow gothic convention , made of 3 distinct levels. @ ground level grand arcades , above these triforium , above high windows or clerestory. tréguier nave has 7 crossings , flanked 2 collateral aisles. sculpted frieze runs under triforium. @ top of nave s pillars various carvings; people @ prayer , selection of grotesques. nave pillars vary in thickness , @ junction of nave , transept pillars made of several smaller columns ( faisceau de colonnes ).

in aisles left , right of nave there many enfeus or walled-up tombs of knights , clerics sadly mutilated during french revolution. 1 such tomb of jehan de lantillac dating 1461. there several statues decorating nave; wood carving of sainte barbara, statues of saints paul , peter came chapelle saint-yves @ plesidy , depiction of christ tied against column.

at top of each pillar in cathedral nave carvings of heads of animals, grotesques or people.

the choir

this area of cathedral dates end of 14th-century beginning of 15th-century. little larger nave , again has arcades, balustraded triforium above , windows higher up. choir vaulting decorated 15th-century paintings of angels holding banners inscribed liturgical texts.; glora laus et honor tibi sit , gratias agamus , cantate domino , etc. @ entrance choir there 2 statues, 1 of saint tugdual , other of saint yves.

the great organ

the gallery organ , casing dates 17th-century , placed before great west window. came cathedral cistercian abbey @ bégard being purchased cathedral tréguier curate durand. instrument built between 1647 , 1649 pierre thuau pupil of paul maillard. restored herland between 1835 , 1837. herland came guerlesquin. in 1937 major refit organised roethingers of strasbourg. wooden casing thought h. vaignon normandy.

stalls

the cathedral has total of 46 stalls many elaborately carved. date around 1508 , work of gérard dru , tugdual kergus. first stall carries depiction of saint tugwaul fighting dragon , saint yves cross stream angel has caused waters part, affording yves dry crossing point.

also in stalls can see graffiti left both choir-boys , canons (ch.le bleiz 1615/francis le manach 1604/le cun.1766.etc.)

the high altar

the predella dates 19th-century , merer. in front of altar, there flemish altarpiece dating 15th-century. altarpiece 1 of oldest in brittany , in 7 separate panels on 100 people depicted in scenes enacting passion of christ.

the pulpit

the cathedral has fine 18th-century pulpit carved wood. carvings include variety of angels , beautiful image of christ.
