kin m series features

in november 2010, microsoft , verizon re-launched kin phones, re-labeling them feature phones no required data plan. prices of phones slashed. kin 2 formerly $100 on two-year contract, new kin twom offered @ $20 on contract. similarly, kin one, formerly $50 on contract, $0 on contract.


the new firmware on repurposed m phones removed several data-centric features of operating system, including many of devices social elements such loop home screen, spot, , access kin studio cloud storage site, shut down in january 2011. lack of data plan requirement , lower prices front, microsoft , verizon hoped planned: capture teenage market.


zune music

one seemingly data-laden feature of old kin devices remained available repurposed phones zune pass, although able stream music on wi-fi, when customers had 3g data enabled, conserve data. done accommodate verizon s new tiered data plans, marked end of unlimited data users.
