the basic system has nothing more button patient. when button pressed, nursing staff alerted light and/or audible sound @ nurse s station. can turned off patient s bedside, thereby compelling staff respond patient.


wireless nurse call

like hardwired systems, wireless types have ability alert nursing staff sound, light or show messages in terminal. advantage there less wiring during installation , reducing costs. dome lights in hallway still require wiring power. disadvantages of wireless systems include requirement of batteries in each patient station must monitored , replaced on life of system, heightened risk of signal interference other systems in facility, , limited selection among ul 1069 approved wireless systems.

in facilities, in hospitals, more advanced system included, in staff nurse s station can communicate directly patients via intercom. has advantage in staff not need waste time walking patient s room determine reason patient made call, , can determine speaking patient whether situation urgent or if can wait until later.


with intercom system, alert can turned off nurse s station, allowing staff avoid entry patient s room if determined patient s need can met without doing so.


cell phone alerts

newer technology allows call buttons reach cell phone-like devices carried around nursing staff. staffers can answer calls wherever located within facility, thereby improving speed , efficiency in response.
