st andrew s church dates 12th century large 15th century pinnacled sandstone tower, norman font , rood screen full width of church. in church several memorials stracheys of sutton court wooden effigy of knight cross-legged , leaning on 1 elbow, in 15th century armour, thought of sir john de hauteville or descendant, , possibly transferred church @ norton hautville before demolished. effigy in north chapel of sir john st loe, on 7 feet (2 m) tall, , lady. armoured figure 7 feet 4 inches (2.24 m) long , feet rest on lion, while of lady rest on dog. church restored in 1860 , has register commencing in 1562. tower 1 hundred feet tall , built 1440. there has been clock on tower since 1700s. there peal of 8 bells in tower. tenor 28 cwt (3,136 lb/1,422 kg) in c. original 5 bells re-cast celebrated thomas bilbie of chew stoke in 1735 make peal of six, , in 1898 4 of these re-cast , 2 repaired messrs. mears , stainbank of london commemorate diamond jubilee of queen victoria. 2 additional bells, gift of brigadier ommanney, added in 1928 complete octave, still contains 2 of bilbie bells. present clock, installed in 1903, plays verse of hymn every 4 hours, @ 8 am, noon, 4 , 8 pm, different hymn tune every day of week. church grade listed building.
the churchyard contains several monuments grade ii listed buildings in own right: churchyard cross, edgell monument, fowler monument , group of 3 unidentified monuments. in addition there 19th-century limestone round-topped stone bears inscription william fowler shot highwayman on dundry hill 14 june 1814 aged 32 years . within church wooden plaques commemorating nineteen people village died in world war , 7 world war ii,
and bronze plaque individual soldier died in 1917.
