rustenburg high school has been ranked in top 10 high schools in western cape academic results in matric examinations many years.


in 2011 school placed top school in western cape, position 3 in 2010 , position 6 in 2009.


in 2012 & 2013, rustenburg maintained academic standards better performance overall, did not qualify considered inclusion in top 20 schools in province.


in 2014, rustenburg again qualified inclusion in top 20 list , placed 6th. in 2015, western cape education department stopped ranking top schools in performance order , instead listed them alphabetically, rustenburg included in list of top 22 schools.



in 2016 top candidate hannah clayton, aggregate of 97.5% , 7 subject distinctions. hannah placed 3rd overall , 3rd mathematics nationally. previous top academic candidates include: 2005 - katherine paterson, 2006 - carmen hartmann, 2007 - kirsten rowe, 2008 - rudi botha, 2009 - adriana oberholzer, 2010 - samantha filby, 2011 - nicola steinhaus, 2012 - alexandra mould, 2013 - nicola cilliers & lauren denny, 2014 - yi-tim yuan, 2015 - rebecca haynes.


in 2009, sunday times published list of top 100 government schools in country, based on 2008 matric results , rustenburg placed fifth.
