eleanor charlotte kynaston grew in liberal educational environment, father being known classical scholar , professor of ancient greek, herbert snow aka kynaston. @ age of 13 began attend regular school. when began take passionate interest in music. 2 years later, father became deacon of durham, eleanor grew close beautiful cathedral. able read manuscripts kept in monastic library, walking , down amongst norman columns of cathedral , experienced of real, concrete history, different read in schoolbooks. myths , legends captivated her, , learned heart tennyson’s king arthur. stream of scholars , theologians entered house fed spiritual longings.

she learnt theosophy @ beginning of world war when copy of “secret doctrine” of h.p. blavatsky sent persons unknown. read it, felt if guided unseen hand, , studied further works of annie besant , other theosophists. after war, made aware of rudolf steiner’s knowledge of higher worlds. in january 1922 met daniel nicol dunlop in london first time. reading lecture of rudolf steiner’s anthroposophical group there. few months later, husband died of pneumonia, after had first personal conversation dn dunlop. dunlop still fired gratitude on meeting rudolf steiner few weeks previously.
