buena park incorporated general law city on january 27, 1953. in november 2008, voters adopted city charter. city charter written document approved electorate acts “constitution” city. amendments, revisions , repeals of charter subject vote of people.


buena park operates under council–manager government, in city council policy-making body , city manager responsible carrying out council policy , everyday management of city functions. elected city council of 5 non-partisan members elected @ large , chair acts mayor.

in california state senate, buena park split between 29th senate district, represented democrat josh newman , 32nd senate district, represented democrat tony mendoza. in california state assembly, in 65th assembly district, represented democrat sharon quirk-silva.
