by 2001, jon siren had joined christopher anton s synthpop band, pseudocipher, while natasha cox , gordon bash members of group lotus reign . later, siren , cox met @ musicians institute in los angeles , recognized had similar tastes in music after seeing each other wearing same sisters of mercy t-shirts. 2 played in jazz band , in 2002 cox joined pseudocipher.

by fall of 2002, cox , siren had formed mankind obsolete. cox on keyboards , siren on drums, began recording become first ep, metamorph, without singer before natasha stepped role of lead vocalist. of recording done @ school s facilities, in siren s apartment using protools, , in cox s apartment bedroom. february 2003, live band had been assembled adding jamie roy on bass, mark nurre on guitars , nathan trowbridge on keyboards , running light show. additional recording , mixing done steven seibold of hate dept. , pigface, , metamorph released in august 2003.

the songs of metamorph range haunting , brooding of album faster paced, more heavily electronic , more danceable icarus . band toured throughout west coast , southwest following album , late 2004, roy had left band.

rise (2004-2006)

cox , siren began working on songs first full-length album in 2004 , in 2005 brought in bash new bassist. bash contributed writing album , served producer rise, band recording in home studio. album, band tried capture more of live feel combining live acoustic instruments electronic , programmed ones. album has been reviewed realizing mature , lucid vision , siren describes being rising above lot of battles having in our daily lives. seeing negativity , finding power within move past it.

following 2005 tours included east coast foray goth stock, trowbridge left band. brian didomenico brought on new keyboardist in late 2005, in time appear in video still right here , released in february 2006. year saw full, nine-week, us/canada tour supporting rise. tour characterized performances of such physical intensity on 1 occasion natasha threw out on stage , needed emergency room attention following show. incarnation of band saw creative load spread across band band members contributing writing new songs awake (composed photographer j. corsentino) , picking @ scab , both of appear on trapped inside.

trapped inside (2006-2008)

in fall of 2006, scott landes of collide , babalon joined band second guitarist, initiating band s brief, six-member incarnation. in spring of 2007, mkio lost nurre , bash band prepared record third album sylvia massy , jim wood producing @ radiostar studios in weed, california. landes had worked massy part of collide. assumed nurre s guitar duties , searched new bassist shaping darker album. joe d ambra joined new bassist trapped inside sessions , tour. album involve more extensive contributions band members previous outings. album recorded in july , august 2007 , released september.

while reviewers found album best work date, different sound rise, others found entertaining , satisfying, neither surprising nor progressing beyond previous efforts. more typical reviewer found album both mature , experimental work rich , organic , alternating between lush , hypnotic , aggressive , pounding.

after trapped inside s september release, mkio embarked on year-long u.s. tour. while prospects of supporting album tour long contributed nurre s , bash s decisions leave band, bash able return in march 2008 when d ambra decided leave. d ambra parted amicably after 8 months band, including 6 months of heavy touring. few months later, near end of tour, didomenico parted ways band. tour wound down in august, played warped tour.

outside endeavors

following rise tours, band members have performed other bands. didomenico , siren formed live band dismantled in european appearances surrounding 2007 wave-gotik-treffen , siren continues drum them live. cox contributed ikonoklast album dawn in 2007. after trapped inside tour, landes , siren joined kidneythieves part of live band. in 2009 siren became drummer of psyclon 9 recording of fallen , associated tour. siren drums former pseudocipher bandmate, christopher anton s solo project, , drums system syn. bash part of jazz band magnolia memoir heads own eponymous band. bash, cox, , landes debuted indie/alternative band alice in 2010. following tour android lust in 2010, landes began playing guitars band. of 2011, cox , siren have appeared part of live band adam moore s indie industrial band, inure , cox joined siren system syn s appearance @ 2011 kinetik festival.

möbius loop (2010- )

work on songs become möbius loop began after tour supporting remix album manic recession in fall of 2010, siren , landes starting instrumentals. cox s work on lyrics , vocals followed , version of crosshairs made appearances in live performances in 2011. during album s preproduction, in 2012, named virtual music ambassadors iran, , in june 2012 traveled without siren algeria under aegis of u.s. embassy program, ten-day workshop algerian bands culminating in battle of bands performance. end of summer of 2012, album appeared halfway done. 2013 saw additional shows tracks laid down of rest of album. album released may 29, 2014 additional production work , synth tracks christopher jon of android lust.
