career
2004–2008: career beginnings , struggles

since then, began auditioning various recording companies; entered s.m. entertainment youth best competition eliminated. in 2004, sunhwa started auditioning @ companies besides singing competitions. in 2005, became finalist on talent show called superstar survival along 2pm s taecyeon, lee junho , chansung. during show, sunhwa received vocal , acting training; however, got eliminated in fifth episode , went busan.


following setback, sunhwa went being ordinary high school student. however, there big change in way sunhwa s peers looked @ her: due false rumors, thought jyp trainee; sunhwa admitted became afraid of people because of jealous stares. teacher sung yongho, in charge of school choir, helped sunhwa, giving chances participate in competitions; then, admitted baekjae art college. few days before college entrance ceremony, got call agent watched superstar survival , became trainee in ts entertainment.


2009–2013: secret, invincible youth, acting debut , rising popularity

in october 2009, sunhwa, along jung hana, song jieun , jun hyoseong, debuted in group secret; prior debut, group on documentary show called secret story chronicled debut process. on same month, sunhwa chosen regular cast member of south korean variety show called invincible youth: news girl group member hasn t debuted yet selected variety program caused huge sensation.


secret released debut single want in october 2009. in april 2010, secret released first mini album entitled secret time spawned them hit single magic , served breakthrough song in south korea. same year, sunhwa made acting debut in more charming day.


in 2012, year end sbs gayo daejeon show, sbs created 4 idol super groups, fan vote placed sunhwa group designated mystic white, group working producer kim hoon, created song mermaid princess profits of donated charity.


2014-present: focus on acting

in 2014 han got first lead role mbc s weekend drama rosy lovers co-starring actor lee jang woo. cnn international seoul listed sunhwa 1 of 9 rising stars in korean entertainment citing multi-tasking artist. same year, portrayal of kang se-ah in 2014 tvn drama, marriage, not dating earned nomination best youth actress @ 16th seoul international youth film festival. won 2 best new actress awards mbc , sbs drama awards roles in rosy lovers , god s gift 14 day.


it confirmed on september 26, 2016 sunhwa had not renewed contract ts entertainment , officially part ways in october. on october 14, 2016 sunhwa joined huayi brothers actress.


in 2017, sunhwa starred in kbs s teen drama school 2017.
