on july 24, 2013, wade posted letter band s facebook page saying lifehouse had parted geffen , on temporary hiatus each band member turned attention other projects (with assurance band continue make records in future). drummer rick woolstenhulme, jr. began touring goo goo dolls; bassist bryce soderberg initiated new band titled komox; lead guitarist ben carey continued work in country rock band elvis monroe; , singer , songwriter jason wade worked on as-yet-unreleased singer-songwriter solo record. band s final show before break on september 25, 2013. of march 2014, began playing shows again, though not part of official tour.


on december 8, 2014, lifehouse stated on official website ben carey no longer part of lifehouse , instead focusing on own projects; live shows, band later revealed steve stout fill in on lead guitar. hillström worked soderberg on komox project.


lifehouse reentered studio in may 2014. on november 15, 2014, band announced new song upcoming album called flight . song released independently on november 18, along announcement band s hiatus officially on , new album released in april 2015 titled seven. first official single hurricane released on january 27, 2015. on january 27, billboard.com revealed new album title out of wasteland , published official standard-edition track list of album, giving official release date of may 19, 2015.


the album released online , in stores on may 26, 2015 , debuted @ number-one on independent albums chart. special target edition made available 4 bonus tracks. band begin touring in support of album on june 19, opening during second north american leg of no fixed address tour, before tour cancelled due health of headlining band nickelback s lead singer, chad kroeger. european headlining tour commenced on september 15, 2015 in amsterdam, dates added due high demand.
