National Express ScotRail (brand)



the brand adopted national express when took on franchise british railways during privatisation in 1997. first unique scotrail livery introduced shortly after privatisation under national express, introduced own livery. initially, vehicles received new scotrail logo applied vinyl stickers; stylised outline of scotland composed of 3 flashes in corporate colours of green, red , purple. multiple units painted new livery bodies in white (lower half) , purple (upper half) green, red , white stripes bordering purple, overlain , wide diagonal white band in centre of carriage. there no units left regional railways livery in scotland @ end of national express franchise period, although class 305 electric units retained until withdrawal in 2001. latter replaced ex-stansted skytrain class 322 units never repainted under national express franchise, receiving scotrail logo transfers. when class 322 hire ended in 2004, replaced on north berwick branch english welsh & scottish class 90 electric locomotives hauling former virgin trains mk.3 coaching stock, in old virgin red , grey livery, again scotrail logo transfers.
