wind power
2015 record year new wind turbine installations totalling 586 mw bringing totalled installed capacity 3,431 mw year end. 180 mw of new installations offshore. dutch government has target of 6,000 mw of onshore wind power 2020 , 4,450 mw of offshore wind power 2023.
in 2010, netherlands had 1973 wind turbines including 98 in 2 offshore windfarms. flevoland leading province wind energy groningen second in capacity , production.the wind capacity installed @ end 2010 will, in normal wind year, produced 4.1% of electricity, when equivalent value germany 9.4% , portugal 14%.
solar power
by 2015 year end cumulative installed capacity of solar pv power reached preliminary estimate of 1,405 mw 357 mw added in year alone. whilst netherlands saw capacity grow fourth highest in europe during 2015 installed capacity per inhabitant remained relatively low @ 83.1 watts per inhabitant compared european average of 186.1 watts per inhabitant
biomass
sources of biomass in netherlands include biogenic fraction of waste burned in waste incineration plants. waste wood collected use in netherlands , other eu countries. manure used produce biogas , wood pellets co-fired in electricity plants. 590 kton of pellets imported, united states of america , around 140 kton dutch sources contributing 12 13 pj of primary energy co-firing in energy plants in 2013-2014. biofuels produced in netherlands both domestic , export markets.
rapeseed , corn crops hardly used in 2014 produce biofuels in holland reasons cited being high price of corn , resistance using food crops fuel production. rapeseed used on 1% of imported biofuels (biodiesel) while corn used 11% (bioethanol). germany largest supplier of rape seed in 2014 (53%), followed romania (13%). corn largest supplier in 2014 ukraine (39%), followed france (24%). maize fodder fermented biofuel production in holland.
biomass produced 76,657 tj of energy final consumption in 2013. largest share destined heat sector @ 42,886tj followed electricity sector @ 21, 649t j , transport sector 12,123tj.
warm milk
in 2010, 740,000 dairy cows (about half of country s total) provided 277 tj of heat energy avoiding 18,000 tons of co2 emissions. according industry sources every litre of milk cooled, 0.7 litres of warm water produced. water pumped through plate heat exchanger reaches 50 °c 55 °c. energy recovered 1000 litres of milk per day on year generates heat equal to: 13,100 kwh of electrical energy, 1,900 litres of oil, 1,650 m³ of natural gas or 950 kg of propane gas.
hydroelectricity
due flat landscape netherlands has limited hydroelectric resources. in 2014 hydroelectricity produced 112 gwh of power out of total electricity production sources of 103,418 gwh.
