the ta s aa units mobilised on 23 september 1938 during munich crisis, units manning emergency positions within 24 hours, though many did not yet have full complement of men or equipment. emergency lasted 3 weeks, , stood down on 13 october. in june 1939, international situation worsened, partial mobilisation of ta begun in process known couverture , whereby each aa unit did month s tour of duty in rotation man selected aa gun , searchlight positions. on 24 august, ahead of declaration of war, aa command mobilised @ war stations.
