on june 29, 2011, wisniewski s rights traded columbus blue jackets in exchange conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2012; pick become fifth-rounder if columbus signed him. subsequently signed six-year, $33 million contract blue jackets on july 1, 2011.


on september 26, 2011, wisniewski suspended remainder of pre-season , 8 regular season games nhl hit head of minnesota wild forward cal clutterbuck on september 23 after end of regulation. in injury-shortened 2011–12 season, wisniewski appeared in 48 games columbus, scoring 6 goals along 21 assists blue jackets finished out of playoff hunt.


wisniewski again suffer season plagued injuries in lockout-shortened 2012–13 season, producing 14 points in 30 games blue jackets. however, in 2013–14, scored 7 goals , career-high 51 point in 75 games, tied st. louis blues alex pietrangelo ninth in points among nhl defensemen, helping blue jackets clinch first playoff berth since 2009.
